Five Star Ind. Children's Home
Our house,
your child's new home!
We provide private
bedrooms for each child in small (less than 10 children) homes
located in the community. Children attend various special education
programs located in the community. Each child is assigned a
Case Manager. The Case Manager will attend the child's IEP meeting
each year to coordinate the home programming with that provided
in the school.
Staff at the Children's
Home are specially trained to provide for the needs of each
child. Background checks, drug tests, and fingerprinting are
completed on each staff person employed.
Physical, occupational,
and speech therapy are available to each child and are included
in the residential rate.
A year round community-based
recreational program is provided. The program is extended in
the summer months to include longer trips to St. Louis. Children
16 or older are eligible to participate in our adult vocational
or developmental summer programs. A new program based on the
TEACCH model is available for children with autism or other
communication limitations.

Our organization
employs a registered nurse who conducts admission and quarterly
health screenings for each child. Our home is located within
blocks of the local hospital.
Short term residential
respite can be provided in our home for eligible children.
How our services
are funded:
Our residential services are funded by a combination of Supplemental
Security Income (SSI) and state funds from the Department of
Human Services, or privately paid by families or third parties,
such as insurance companies.
There is no additional
cost to families for residential placement for children who
are eligible for state funding.
